IEEE VIT QNA
Here are the answers to questions asked by the IEEE chapter of my college.
What inspired you to create chloromaps.com?
The idea for building chloromaps.com started back in May 2019 when I created @maps_affinity which garnered over 20,000 followers at its peak. Since I was mainly curating choropleth visualizations, the tools that I used to create them lacked a lot of features & customizations. This got me the idea to build it in coming future. The main reason that inspired me to build it were, first it was a unique project built from scratch so there was a lot of things to learn, second it perfectly bridged between my interests in programming & choropleth visualizations.
What challenges did you face while building it and how did you overcome them?
There were a ton of unknowns that had to be solved to build the project. The biggest challenge I faced was not able to figure out solutions which were mainly resorted due to my lack of experience at that time. I overcame this by just taking some days off and starting again from scratch later.
How does it feel to be working in a tech startup like 100ms even before the final year of college begins?
It's super exciting to work at early-stage startups like 100ms gives a lot of insights into how companies are built from the ground up. It's great to work with people who have been in the industry longer than my age.
Do you feel online classes have enabled students to pursue their passion in their free time?
Yes! The "Free time" that students used to get during pre-pandemic was very condensed. Now there's an absolute amount of time to experiment and pursue their passions. But in the end, it's all about how someone manages to make the most of the given time.
What are your future goals?
Shipping and Launching some Products that I have been building for the past months is my main goal. I have to also figure out how I can not get bored at times.
Who inspires you?
indiainpixels is my biggest source of inspiration he's the sole reason I got into programming and I am grateful that he helped & motivated me when I needed it the most. There are some more people who have inspired me in different avenues you can view all of them here.
What are your hobbies?
Listening to songs, watching movies, writing technical blogs, and reading books is something I have been dwelling on lately.
